The Southwest Michigan Health Information Exchange (Mihealthelink) is a planning initiative that will soon result in a secure online resource developed by and for doctors, hospital systems, health insurers and privacy officers in Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Van Buren counties. Its purpose is to share essential patient information quickly and accurately with authorized health care providers.

To date, all five major providers located in the seven-county area of Southwest Michigan have all agreed to participate in the planning phase of the project:

Bronson Health Care Group  Bronson Health Logo

         Borgess Healthcare                borgess healthcare logo

Lakeland Health Care            Lakeland HealthCare Logo

         Oaklawn Hospital                     oaklawn hospital logo

Battle Creek Health System    Battle Creek Health System Logo

This highly cooperative effort among otherwise competing providers speaks volumes about the level of commitment by these providers to making the health information exchange a patient centric system.  Above all else, all providers expressed their desire to first serve the needs of the patient community. We are also looking for other participants in the healthcare community that can provide resources and expertise to help in planning and designing this online health information exchange. If you have something to offer, please contact us at info@mihealthelink.org

The Southwest Michigan Health Information Exchange  planning initiative is being developed during 2008 and 2009, as part of a nationwide effort to improve our health care system. In collaboration with the Michigan Department of Community Health and regional health care providers, we are working to improve how health care is delivered.

Over the next few months, please visit us at this website to see the progress being made in delivering a solution that will transform and improve the way health information is delivered and communicated to all participants involved.
